A sausage dog gift that's personal
Dachshund owners tend to have a shelf of sausage dog mugs, socks and cushions already. A print of their own dog is the one thing they won't have: made from your photo, so it's their markings, their grey muzzle and their expression.
It makes a lovely birthday present for a dachshund lover, a gift for a new puppy owner, or a thank you for the friend who dog-sits for you.
Which print suits a dachshund?
Smooth red and chocolate dachshunds look rich as a filament painting, especially in the Mocha or Ember palettes. Black and tan dogs are striking as a lithophane, where the light picks out the tan points. Wire-haired and long-haired dachshunds show off their coat best as a sculpted relief.
Side-on photos work well for showing off that famous length, but a close-up of the face prints the most detail. Try both in the studio and compare.

Choosing the photo
- Get down low, at their eye level, rather than shooting from above.
- For a face shot, fill the frame. For a full-length shot, give the whole dog room.
- Soft, even light shows the coat best. Avoid flash.
- Pick a photo with sharp eyes: they matter more than anything else.

Questions
- Can I show the whole dachshund, not just the face?
- Yes. A landscape print suits a side-on photo of the whole dog. A close-up of the face keeps the most detail, so try both in the studio and see which you prefer.
- Will it work for a black and tan dachshund?
- Yes. Black and tan coats look striking as lithophanes, and filament paintings pick out the tan points. If the photo is dark, nudge the brightness up in the studio and check the preview.
- Does the lithophane come with a light?
- You can add our LED light stand at checkout, from £8. It holds the panel upright and lights it from behind with a warm white or colour-changing USB light, and it's printed in the colour you choose. Without the stand, a lamp behind the panel works well too.
- How long does delivery take?
- We print every order in our Manchester workshop and post it within 5 working days. Tracked delivery usually takes 1 to 3 working days after that, and it's free on orders over £30.
